Climate change is a big issue we all are facing. Portending process of climate change, induced by the anthropogenic accumulations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere are likely to generate effects that will cascade through the biosphere, impacting all life on earth and bearing upon human endeavors.
This is the first Climate Change conference being organized by Centre of Excellence for Environment, Climate Change and Public Health (CoE-ECCPH) of Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. Depending on the response, the CoE-ECCPH intends to bring out a series of the publication dedicated to elucidating the interactions of climate change with a broad range of sectors and systems, and to developing and spurring effective responses to this global challenge. Participants of the National Conference will have scope to get associated and receive facilitation support from CoE-ECCPH for taking up more research work in their respective areas of interest.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all and achieving this by 2030 becomes questionable due to the adverse impacts of climate change.
The 17 Goals are all interconnected for transforming our world. They recognize that ending poverty must go hand-in-hand with strategies that build economic growth and address a range of social needs including education, health, social protection, and job opportunities while tackling climate change and environmental protection.
In anticipation of these effects due to climate change and urge to achieve targets under 17 SDGs with 230 indicators (Report of the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on Sustainable Development Goal Indicators), researchers widen their field of vision and collaborate across disciplines to encompass increasingly complex interactions. Trans-disciplinary cooperation should aim to generate effective responses to the evolving risks, including actions to mitigate the emissions of greenhouse gases and to adapt to those climate changes that cannot be avoided.
